Ft Walton Beach church

Land was donated by a Mrs. Jackson who gave land along 'Miracle Mile' for every denomination in town.

Ft Walton Beach FL prep

Two people related they were healed by praying with the idea if it's not true about God it's not true about me. One woman was visiting in Birmingham, heard a testimony where a person related the story from the lecture and said they had prayed that way and been healed. The woman said she later had an instantaneous healing using that truth.

Then the second woman said her friend had told her this truth and way of praying. She has used this spiritual truth since several times and been healed.

This is the universal Christ always present and always healing. Christ communicates the truth and the truth heals and saves.

Healings/comments from Wichita KS talks

It's been several weeks after the two lectures in Wichita KS, one on the university campus and the other in the Christian Science church. Here are comments and healing results:

"I have heard of 2 physical healings directly attributed to the lectures—immobility healed and a cold averted. We had visitors come to our church that weekend, and since that weekend. Two men have been coming regularly since the lecture weekend. We also have had more activity at our reading room, on the “live chat” days, as well as the Monday after our lecture weekend.

Elise spoke at length with an MD who asked pointed questions about treatment, with very clear responses from Elise, to which the MD could readily relate. This is a friend of mine, who asked me to speak with her daughter the following day. She said that it was “just what she needed to hear.” I heard of one remarkable effect from someone who came as a guest and used what he or she learned from the lecture to comfort a friend the following day whose relative had committed suicide. I also heard of two other newcomers who said that what they heard over the lecture weekend was “what we have been searching for.”

The three events (two public lectures and one lecture preparation workshop) were an amazing dynamic. In the past, we often think of who would really have loved/benefited/been blessed by the lecture AFTER we have heard it. Well, we were able to build up steam over the weekend. Saturday’s lecture had about 78 people in an excellent auditorium. By Sunday, there were over 110 people at our church in the afternoon. We estimate that about 30 people on Saturday and perhaps 40 on Sunday were newcomers—and there was a long gathering Sunday of those attendees who stayed and talked—at least half the group mingled and looked at the literature table.

We sold a Bible, about 15 Science and Healths, 2 full text quarterlies, a Gratitude Book and Relationship Book, and gave away many Sentinels, Journals and one used Miscellaneous Writings. We had lovely conversations, and know that we will continue to see the blessings from this glorious weekend.

Stuart FL talk

95 attendees from all over Florida heard this talk several Bibles and 9 Science and Healths were sold or given. One newcomer couldn't believe that a broken arm could be healed in 2 days. He believed in Jesus' healings but didn't think they happened today. Christian Science is the Christ healing method that Jesus taught. Like the disciples you might not heal at the first attempt. But spiritualizing thought can help anyone to practice Christ healing.

Comment after Orlando FL talk

Thank you very much for your wonderful message "God is on the Job". As always it was very inspiring. Your lectures have inspired me to share three or four testimonies at Wednesday night meetings over the past year. One built around the reminder card of imiportant points your lectures motivated me to construct. Another resulting from a healing built around John 8:32, Mark 11:24 and Genesis 1:27 along with correlative passages from Science & Health and other writings.

I continue to look forward to your lectures and writings. Keep up the good work.

Giving talks in academic settings

I just gave a talk at University of Central Florida and in the Maitland Sports complex, both in the Orlando FL area. These two talks are my ideal of lecturing. One talk in a university class and another in a public setting. If every church would strive to find an undergraduate or graduate class for a lecturer to address and then have a public lecture, I think we would be truly fulfilling Mrs. Eddy’s vision for informing present and future generations about the theology and practice of Christian Science. Christian Science belongs in the academic community as well as the general public. I'm hoping that more lecture planning committees will develop contacts with philosophy, religion, sociology, etc. departments and consider adding a second academic talk along with their public talk.

Activities after lecture in Wichita KS

We had some great results from the meetings we scheduled in our Reading Room
after your lecture and I wanted to share them with you. These were meetings scheduled for the next few weeks to listen on the spirituality.com site to "chats" from the past, with subjects specified in our lecture handout.

At the first chat that we scheduled, I think we had 6 loyal members, and that was a very icy, snowy, cold day! At the second one last week we had 10 people! One was brand new to Christian Science from the lecture. She said her husband's grandmother is a Christian Scientist and she admires her, saw our lecture ads, and came. We also had 6 members, 1 regular attendee, one new attendee, and one out-of town Christian Scientist from 60 miles away. In addition, at the beginning of the chat a young lady came in (perhaps noticing a crowd gathering) and asked if she could buy
a paper here. I told her we had the CS Monitor. I think she was really initially looking for the Wichita Eagle, but she bought a Christian Science Monitor! And at the end of the chat, another young lady came in, asking about Christian Science. Barbara talked with her, answered a few questions, and invited her to come back next week for the next chat. She indicated that she would try.

By the way, we did receive some more information about the shooting at a wake the weekend of the lecture that you asked me about. It was apparently part of a continuing battle between two gangs from Laos. We didn't even know we had them here, but we (and others in the community) are working on that now.

Thank you again for coming to Wichita!

Melbourne FL talk

I am not sure I conveyed last night how much I loved your lecture and
how grateful I and both of our congregations are to you for all that
you have given us and the community of Melbourne. I have had quiet
time this morning to reflect on all that transpired and it has been
incredibly wonderful. The emails and phone calls I have received
since dinner have all been tremendously uplifting and full of so much
gratitude.

We had 96 in attendance, the general consensus so far is that we had a
lot of newcomers this year that had never been to anything about
Christian Science. This is what we were striving for and was
successful! The woman who came in prior to attending the movie had
spoken to a couple of Practitioners in lobby and she is/was a Catholic
and told them she was between 2 movies and they told her to just come
in for a bit. There were discussions around the poster in the lobby,
etc. It was an incredible afternoon, rather an incredible 4 days.
Thank you so very much.

Church growth from past lectures

This is the day for hearing healing results from past lectures. Folks in Cocoa told me that a newcomer to their lecture 2 years ago began coming to their church after the lecture and bringing her grandchildren. She was in the audience of today's lecture taking notes.

Got a call today from another church I lectured for 3 years ago saying their Sunday School has grown by "leaps and bounds". They now have lots of newcomers attending. In addition, they began a Bible Lesson discussion group. Five folks who were returning or new to Christian Science have since taken class instruction. They became more involved in the study of Christian Science through the discussion group. Those involved in the discussion group have increased the frequency so they now meet every other week. The progress was attributed to the change of thought from the lectures and talk on church growth. Actually, I attribute it to the divine influence of Christ and the spiritual sense and love of God on the part of those involved.

They sold 20 Science and Healths and 2 MBE Christian Healer after the talk, The Possibilities of Prayer.

The Helicopter Prayer

Written after attending a lecture entitled "The Possibilities of Prayer"
by Elise Moore, C.S.B.

The Helicopter Prayer

Uplight your thought,
With soaring prayer to God,
Uphold Spirit,
From heaven to the sod,
Radiate Love,
Reaching every border,
Let Principle,
Affirm law and order.

You are Soul,
All harmony and peace,
Mind is the source,
Its forming does not cease.
The Truth heals,
When known, it makes us free,
Life eternal,
Immortal, now we see.
