Ciudad Victoria radio interview

At 9am Sunday, which is an excellent time for radio, the group had arranged for me to be interviewed for 15 minutes on a live program. The program is on a station sponsored by the university. The program is hosted by a woman senior citizen who has an hour program Sunday mornings called the “Golden Years”. The co-host this week was the doctor who has become interested in Christian Science. When we arrived the hostess wasn’t present. This turned out to be God’s blessing for us. Apparently she might not have permitted much talk about religion and I was warned that she might not want me to talk about this and that.

The doctor opened the program and we talked specifically about how to pray. I mentioned Jesus, the Lord’s Prayer, how my family came to study Christian Science through healings of my paternal great grandmother and maternal grandmother. Today is a state holiday about the family. So talking about my family was very relevant. Then the hostess arrived. She immediately began correcting me with her ideas about prayer on air. But actually she made a lovely point. So I took her point and expanded on it. I’m aware of how to control an on air interview when needed, and so with much humility I brought the discussion to the infinite possibilities of prayer and illustrated that.

The end result was that I was on air for 45 minutes. I also read from Science and Health, talked about Mary Baker Eddy. The hostess then actually came to the lecture this evening at the university! She was having dinner with friends but told them she wanted to go to the talk and so left them and came. Several others in the audience of the talk recognized her. She seems to be a local celebrity. We talked before the lecture. The doctor and his wife also came to the lecture tonight. Some people who came to the lecture had heard the program and appreciated the ideas shared.

Then both the doctor and hostess came to the final informal lecture/workshop. She purchased Science and Health and said that she was interested in studying more about prayer and healing. The doctor said that through the lectures he attended this weekend he had gained a new view of identity and been able to overcome unsettling thoughts about the past. The Christ is at work!
